||The first and only law school in the country, Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law was established by Royal Charter by His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo on 21 February 2015. JSW Law is an autonomous tertiary educational institution, offering a five-year undergraduate degree in law. JSW Law currently operates out of leased facilities in Taba, Thimphu, and is constructing a permanent residential campus in Pangbisa, Paro, which is expected to open in 2019 or 2020. JSW Law admitted its first class of 25 students in July 2017. The school will eventually add one or more national and international Masters of Law (LL.M.) programmes in specialized areas of law. The school presently has 13 full-time faculty. The school promotes research through its nascent Research Centre, and plans to promote community service and experiential education through a robust series of live-client “legal clinics” which will be compulsory for fourth and fifth year students.
