Hon'ble Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dasho Karma Yeshey, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Royal University of Bhutan, Dasho Nidup Dorji and the Proponent of Kuen-Gaa Group of Companies Private Limited, Ms. Kinlay Peldon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of Norbuling Rigter College under Dotey Gewog in Paro on 26th July 2017.
The 11th Meeting of the Tertiary Education Board held on June 29, 2017 accorded final approval for upgrading Kuengaa Higher Secondary School at Dotey in Paro to a College for the commencement in 2017 academic year. The Board underscored the need to sign the MoU to ensure quality of the College and also for smooth monitoring purposes.
With the signing of the MoU, the three agencies have formally agreed to collaborate in ensuring the provisions of quality higher education for students who aspire to pursue their further studies at Norbuling Rigter College. Among others, the MoU requires the College to provide and maintain higher education standards as defined in the Accreditation Principles, Accreditation Manual, and Wheel of Academic Law. Furthermore, the proponent has committed to complete the construction works of Multi-purpose Hall and Lecture Theatre by the end of 2018 and 2019 respectively.
The MoU clearly spells out that relevant bodies such as Tertiary Education Board, Bhutan Accreditation Council and Royal University of Bhutan would closely monitor the quality of the College.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Education, Thimphu in the presence of the officials from the Ministry of Education, Royal University of Bhutan and Norbuling Rigter College in Paro.
